The Russian aggression, which has been going on for almost a year, has created a threat to the Polish cultural heritage in Ukraine. Polish monuments, sacral buildings, elements of small architecture, symbols of Polish statehood and culture became the target of Russian attacks. The More Than Poland Foundation started substantive and personnel support for the protection of historic, cultural, and sacral buildings, implemented with the help of groups of volunteers operating in Lviv and other cities of Ukraine.
We encourage students of art history and artistic faculties from the Tricity and Warsaw to join our action. The project “We save Polish monuments in Ukraine” is financed by the ORLEN for Pomerania Foundation. Its main goal is to fight against the devastation of Polish cultural goods and to protect works of art located in Ukraine.

More than 50 Ukrainian works of art were transported by trucks from bombed Kiev to Madrid, the capital of Spain. The trucks left Kiev at dawn on November 15, 2022, hours before another Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital. The cars reached Lviv, crossed the border with Poland, and after five days and almost 3000 km. km arrived in Madrid. At the Polish border, the trucks waited for almost 10 hours, because that’s when a rocket landed on Polish territory, killing two people.
An exhibition of works by Ukrainian artists representing futurism and constructivism entitled “In the eye of the cyclone. Avant-Garde in Ukraine 1900-1930” will be on display at the Thyssen Museum in Madrid until the end of April, and then it will move to Cologne, Germany, and other European cities where it will be safe.
