In Ukraine, museums, art galleries, sacred buildings, palaces, art collections, archives and historic necropolises are at risk. That is why any help counts. The More than Poland Foundation will engage in saving works of art in Ukraine. We will keep you posted.
We help save works of art in Ukraine
Poles not only spontaneously help refugees from Ukraine. Polish museums and non-governmental organizations also try to help protect monuments and works of art in Ukraine. The works are carried out non-stop to save as much Ukrainian cultural heritage as possible. In the Lviv region alone, more than half of the monuments of Ukraine are located. Lviv is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Some of the monuments have already been secured. The most valuable sculptures decorating Lviv squares and fountains have been wrapped with non-flammable mineral wool. Shields have appeared on the windows of the historic Orthodox and Catholic churches. The figure of Jesus Crucified – one of the oldest religious statues in Ukraine – has disappeared from the courtyard of the Armenian Church. It was moved to a safe bunker.
What does Ukraine need to save works of art? This list includes: foam and powder extinguishers, fire blankets and other non-flammable fabrics, mineral wool to protect stained glass and museum windows, fire helmets, non-flammable clothing.
In Poland, collections of materials and equipment are organized to help save the heritage of Ukraine.
There is also a fundraiser to protect the monuments of Ukraine, organized by the Cultural Heritage Foundation.
